  3. I. Introduction
  4.  
  5. A.  Welcome.  For the next few minutes, you will be led on a tour of
  6. the MAEstro Software Multimedia Authoring Environment.  To pause this
  7. demonstration at any time, press the Pause button on the front panel
  8. of the TimeLine Editor application.  Press Pause again to resume the
  9. demonstration.

  11. B.  The MAEstro Software Multimedia Authoring Environment is an
  12. expandable suite of applications to simplify thetask of creating
  13. multimedia documents.  MAEstro Software's goal is to give you a rich
  14. toolkit that lets you control information in ways that we cannot
  15. imagine and ways that suit you best.
  16.  
  17. i) For example, use the applications together to create multimedia
  18.   presentations such as this one.
  19.  
  20. ii) Or, use individual MAEstro media editors to enhance and augment your
  21.   custom software applications.
  22.  
  23. iii) Use the "maestro talk" application to create your own scripted
  24.   documents instead of using the graphically-based TimeLine Editor
  25.   that you see here.

  27. C.  There are endless possibilities.  This package includes sample
  28. software so you can begin to explore some of those possibilities.

  31. II. Describing MAEstro Software's Product
  32.  
  33. A.  Here are some of the tools to help you create multimedia documents.
  34.  
  35. B.  The TimeLine Editor is the basic authoring application in the
  36. environment.  It controls the performance of a document and makes it
  37. easy for you to create documents.
  38.  
  39. C.  This document has five tracks, one for each media application
  40. being used by the document.  The role of each application used here
  41. will be described during this demonstration.
  42.  
  43. D.  Pause markers are one of many TimeLine features, and have been
  44. sprinkled through the document at good stopping points to give you a
  45. break.  Pause markers are noted by red vertical bars.  When you reach
  46. a pause marker, TimeLine's Pause button will light.  To continue
  47. playback, press the Pause or Play button.

  49. E.  The Digital Tape Recorder application is used for recording and
  50. playback of SPARCaudio.  Use it to add voice or musical annotations to
  51. other documents.  DigitalTapeRecorder takes advantage of the full
  52. range of audio quality on Sun's Ultra workstation, from 8 kilohertz
  53. phone quality to CD and DAT high-quality stereo audio.

  55. F.  DisplayTool is the slideshow component of the environment.  Use
  56. DisplayTool to browse a Gallery of images in several common formats,
  57. including TIFF, JPEG, Sun Raster, and others.  Drag images from the
  58. Gallery into the Slide area to create your own slideshows.

  60. G.  There are more than ten MAEstro Software applications to help you,
  61. with more on the way.  And authorship with all MAEstro applications is
  62. easy: just open the document you want, select the part of the document
  63. you want to perform, then click on the TimeLine where you want it to
  64. be performed.  Then use TimeLine to see your results.

  66. H.  This demonstration won't describe in detail all of the MAEstro
  67. Software authoring tools.  We encourage you to try them for yourself,
  68. to get a taste of what you can do with with MAEstro's product.
